Details of each initiative below:
1. Reforestation: Planting 1 Tree
Through Eden Reforestation Projects, we plant one tree for every order, combating deforestation while creating employment opportunities in local communities.
- Eden Projects restore native ecosystems while alleviating extreme poverty.
- Trees are planted in countries including Madagascar, Haiti, Nepal, Indonesia, Mozambique, Kenya, Nicaragua, and Honduras.
- This initiative helps restore animal habitats, improve soil quality, and stabilize local weather patterns.
- The project has created millions of workdays, providing sustainable livelihoods for people in extreme poverty.
2. Ocean Plastic Recovery: Rescuing 5 Pieces of Plastic
In collaboration with Plastic Bank®, we're tackling one of the greatest threats to our oceans and marine life. For each order, we ensure that 5 pieces of plastic are recovered from coastal areas, preventing them from entering our oceans.
- Plastic Bank builds ethical recycling ecosystems in coastal communities, creating economic opportunities for collectors.
- Operating in Haiti, Brazil, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Egypt, Plastic Bank transforms plastic waste into a valuable currency for local communities.
- This initiative promotes a circular economy, reducing new plastic production and encouraging companies to use recycled materials.
- Blockchain technology ensures transparency and traceability across the entire value chain.
3. Carbon Offsetting: 10kg of CO2
We offset 10kg of carbon dioxide with each order by supporting the transition to energy-efficient cookstoves in Malawi, a project managed by RIPPLE Africa.
- Traditional three-stone cooking fires in Malawi contribute to deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions.
- Switching to a Changu Changu Moto cookstove saves approximately 2.5 tonnes of carbon per year.
- These improved cookstoves reduce wood consumption by about 100 bundles per year.
- The project benefits women and children by reducing exposure to toxic smoke and saving time previously spent collecting firewood.
